The Third-party Research Unit of Napoli has significant expertise in scientific research aimed at the assessment of the safety of structures and non-structural components subject to natural and/or anthropic risks.

The Research Unit is based at the Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture of the University Federico II of Napoli and can rely on the materials and structures testing laboratory of such Department. The laboratory, which is officially recognized by the Italian Central Technical Service of the Superior Council of Public Works, has state-of-the-art testing facilities with a worldwide uniqueness allowing for large-scale static and dynamic tests, non-conventional tests aimed at the standardization of mechanical tests and the characterisation of innovative structural systems for seismic isolation and composites.
