2013-2016 Project PON “METROPOLIS – Integrated and sustainable methods and techniques for the adaptation and safety of urban systems”

The project’s goal is to define methods, develop innovative and sustainable technologies focuses on the assessment and management of natural and anthropic risks in the urban environment in order to drive risk mitigation strategies based on an integrated decision support tool.
The innovative approach of the project deals with integrated risk assessment taking into account all sources of hazard, and the different subsystems of the urban system, taking into consideration the interactions arising from the functional intra- and inter-connections among components and subsystems.
The contribution of ITC focuses on two different activities:

• Development of models to support experimental testing concerning the local interaction between infill panels and adjacent reinforced concrete elements,
• Strategies and techniques for the reduction of seismic vulnerability with particular regard to the measures designed for non-structural elements.
