4th Meeting of the P.A.T.H project
New touristic routes to discover Western Greece and Puglia
funded under the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014-2020
The 4th Project Meeting of the cross-border cooperation project P.A.T.H, “Promoting Area Attractiveness through hiking and introducing a different touristic approach”, will be held on 10 and 11 December 2019 in Ruvo di Bari – Italy, by the National Park of Alta Murgia.
The Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Greece is the lead beneficiary of this project in cooperation with one Greek partner, the Region of Western Greece and three Italian partners, the Construction Technologies Institute – National Research Council of Italy, the Management Body of the Regional Natural Reserves of Taranto and the Alta Murgia National Park.
P.A.T.H project, financed for 863.947,63€ under Priority Axis 2 – Integrated Environmental Management of the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme, aims at the development of a methodological framework for the management of differentiated Touristic Routes of the cross-border area through the promotion of advanced technologies and practices contributing to tourism sustainability.
The 4th project meeting will focus on the co-ordination of the activities to be carried out by the partners and on planning future steps. In the framework of the project, partners have been working on the identification and mapping of thematic touristic routes both in Greece and in Italy. Italian partners have identified 17 routes and Greek partners 34 routes, including routes for people with special needs that will be included in the multimedia web-platform allowing users to plan their visit and explore more than 2.000 points of interest both in Greece and in Italy.
