The Task Management System originates from practical experiences of software development within the automation of work processes strongly based on collecting and processing information in cooperation with the headquarter of Padova. One of the cases under examination concerned the ATP certification Accord Transport Perissable (Agreements concerning the international carriage of perishable foodstuffs and of special transport facilities used for these transports) of goods vehicles, notably, the performing of tests on vehicles for the cold chain, the elaboration of the overall heat exchange coefficient for insulated vehicles and tanks and the subsequent drafting of inspection reports concerning the accordance with standards. .

A system architecture, conceptually based on the idea of Task Management System, has been developed; it allows for the extension of basic functionalities by adding components that provide specific functions: new software components act as new tasks, “parts of basic activities regarding the composition of the workflow.”
