InnovANCE

Innovance research project aims at setting up a computing platform accessible via web that arrange individual stages of the building process sequentially and not in a stackable way and provide unambigous descriptions and codes of them: they range from preliminary design to the final one, then tender offer and assignment of work and finally maintenance plan of the work created. Such monitoring makes it possible to identify precisely in the constrction product supply-chain materials, products, activities, working procedures implemented and participants who take part in these procedures.

More specifically the Innovance project lies within the programme “Industry 2015 –  Energy efficiency” and aims, as ultimate goal, at creating the first national database concerning the building sector. The database will have to contain all the information concerning procedures, resources and building products used for the execution of a work, which will be, in turn, arranged according to criteria set by the existing legislation on gathering, classifying and exchanging information in the building sector. Moreover the focus towards energy efficiency gives an added value to the project, because it aims at tracking and, at the same time, ensuring that energetics performances of products, declared by manufacturers, are effectively maintained over time even after the installation.

The database aims at identifying and describing clearly people, objects and actions involved/that interact and intervene in the different stages of the building process. As a consequence every single item/element of these categories has an assigned code and a statement shared by the experts of the field with the aim of promoting exchange and technical-semantic interoperability. To guarantee interoperability descriptions and codes will be accompanied by multidimensional models, that, based on previously specified information, represent the related 3D object, thanks to the integration of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology.

There are different activities within the project, which contribute to the achievement of the final objective. More specifically: definition of coding systems, implementation and popolation of the database, setting up of technical datasheets, testing on under real-actual operating conditions so as to validate the innovative solution suggested.

Within the project, the ITC-CNR Institute is responsible for PL14 “Semantics”, which aims at creating a therminological resource to support the management and exchange process of information in the construction industry, so as to make communicaton effective inside.
