New methods for the analysis and the enhancement of the built environment and the cultural and architectural heritage

Implementation of the action planning for the built environment taking into account regulatory, environmental and economic factors with particular attention to the different types of users, depends on a substantial amount of good-quality information and criteria to steer decision-making processes and techniques to be used for simulating the actions and predicting the environmental impact of buildings, in order to improve the safety and quality of residential and non-residential facilities and their infrastructures. The increasing complexity of the design process calls for information methods and technologies to support all the phases of the process (preferably based on an open source approach).
Within this framework, procedures and methods are developed with regard to the following activities: survey, degradation diagnosis and development of digital models aimed at the design of restoration actions; implementation of websites, production of virtual tours and local information systems for the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion and enhancement of sites of historical, architectural and naturalistic interest.
